Aruṇa Tepi

Two low-rise beach bungalows frame a shared timber deck on the coastal edge of Nusa Penida. The proposal responds to the open shoreline, warm climate and palm canopy.

Slightly elevated floors, wide roof overhangs and shaded verandas help the bungalows sit lightly within the landscape. Natural timber decking and white wall planes keep the material palette restrained.

The central deck forms a communal gathering space, while orientation, setbacks and changes in level maintain privacy. The buildings remain below the palm canopy, preserving the horizontal relationship between sea, shore and sky.
