JO's Atelier was founded in Dhaka in 2016 by Shirin Jahan Jamie and Touhid Ahmed Ome. J for Jamie, O for Ome: two initials, one shared practice. Across approximately 60–65 projects, the studio developed its approach through residential, commercial and hospitality work, alongside international design competitions.
In 2023, Jamie and Ome closed their Bangladesh operations and moved to Vancouver for graduate study. Ome completed his Master of Urban Design at UBC in 2024. The Canadian practice launched in 2026, with residential projects in Belcarra, Kitsilano and Richmond marking this new chapter.
Our work starts with the relationship between people and the spaces they use. We bring together spatial planning, materials, furnishings and lighting to create interiors that feel coherent, comfortable and personal.
Residential interiors are at the centre of our Canadian practice. Our wider body of work includes commercial spaces, hospitality proposals and international competition entries, each responding to its own setting and brief.
